French Manicure with Press-On Nails: The Perfect Classic Look
Discover how to achieve a flawless french manicure at home with press-on nails — no salon, no hassle, just stunning results.

One of the biggest questions we get at Popink is: how long do press-on nails actually last? With the right prep and care, you can easily get 1–2 weeks of wear — sometimes even more.
Here is everything you need to know.
Skipping prep is the number one reason press-ons lift early. Take 5 extra minutes here and it pays off all week.
Remove any old polish or residue. Use a nail polish remover with acetone, then wipe each nail with the included prep wipe — or a cotton pad soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol. This removes oils and ensures a solid bond.
If the press-on overlaps your cuticle even slightly, it creates a lifting point. Use a cuticle pusher to gently push them back before applying.
You don't need to go rough — just a few gentle swipes with a fine-grit buffer to create a tiny bit of texture. This gives the adhesive something to grip.
Oils are the enemy of adhesion. Avoid hand cream, cuticle oil, or lotion for at least an hour before applying your press-ons.
Popink kits come with both adhesive tabs and nail glue. Here is when to use each:
1. Size correctly — choose a press-on that covers your nail without touching the skin on either side. Too wide = lifting at the edges.
2. Press firmly — after placing, press down hard for 30 seconds. Really lean into it.
3. Avoid water for 2 hours — let the adhesive fully cure before washing your hands.
4. Apply at night — if possible, put them on before bed so they set overnight without exposure to water or impact.
When you are ready to remove, do not peel them off dry. Soak your fingertips in warm soapy water for 10 minutes, or use a wooden cuticle stick to gently lift from the side. Your natural nails will thank you.
With these steps, your Popink set will look freshly done for much longer than you might expect.
